Soldbuch to Gefreiter Otto Neußz, born in 1899. The soldbuch is a first issue from Februar 1942, Heimat-Kraftfahr-Bezirk Düsseldorf.
He was a WW1 Veteran, serving as a Musketier in Res. Infantry Rgt. 401. He was awarded the Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer (stated in his soldbuch on page 21) as WW1 vet. His certificate of discharge as POW in WW1 is also included.
He started his career as Kraftfahrer in September 1940 and was promoted to Gefreiter on the first of April 1944 while serving with Sicherheits Btl. 480, part of the 3. Panzerarmee.
He also received the Iron Cross Second Class with this Btl. on the first of December 1943, most probably for actions around the area of Witebsk.
In august 1944 he became part of the 8th company of Grenadier Regiment 1036, part of the 59. Infanterie Division which saw action at the Western Front (defensive battles in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany).
