In 1933, he became a party member of the NSDAP and the the SS where he reached the rank of SS- Standartenführer (first of September 1943). In  April 1934, being a "Exekutivarzt", he was involved in the execution of SA-leaders. On the first of August 1944 he became Generalarzt der Reserve.
 
Lothar Kreuz received the Knights Cross of the War Merit Cross (without swords) on the 13th of June 1944.
